Although the Vietnamese also prepare their version of this drink, I have yet to find one that rivals the Thai rendition. In the Vietnamese version, you must squeeze your lime and add regular sugar to the soda water, which doesn’t produce the same satisfaction as the Thai version with the sugar syrup.
You can use monk fruit sugar or honey as a sugar-free alternative. I rarely make this was white sugar but always use a healthier sugar such as monk fruit sugar.
