Starting in Salt Lake City, you’ll head north on I-15, passing through cities like Ogden and Brigham City. After crossing into Idaho, you’ll divert onto I-86, leading towards Jackson Hole.
Stopping In Idaho Falls Via Jackson Hole
You can also make a stop to go via Idaho Falls. This is a longer route but Idaho Falls is a lovely town.

Idaho Falls is a great city, and one of the old diners that many locals visit is Smitty’s Pancake and Steakhouse on 645 W Broadway St, Idaho Falls, ID. - Swan Valley: Just off US-26, this little town is a great pit stop to enjoy the Snake River and perhaps indulge in a world-famous square ice cream cone. Ice cream is famous, and if you love ice cream, and must stop on your route.
I have driven this route a few times and even cycled part of this route. One of the things you need to remember when doing this route is that it is not a problem to drive this in the summer months, but during the winter months, some mountain passes can be difficult if it snows.
Scenic Route Via US-89 From Salt Lake City To Jackson Hole Or Via Park City, Utah
Distance: Approximately 310 miles
Estimated Drive Time: 4.40 to 5.5 hours
